About LaloDocs

The speed of a one-off generator with the tracking, chasing and collecting of real invoicing software. Nobody owned both ends, so we built it.

The gap we are closing

There are two kinds of invoicing tool. One is instant: you land on a page, type, and a PDF comes out. It asks nothing of you and remembers nothing about you — no history, no record of whether the invoice was opened, no way to take a payment. The other is real invoicing software: it does all of that, and it wants an account, an onboarding flow and often a subscription before it will produce anything at all.

Nobody owns both ends. LaloDocs is built to: a finished PDF in under a minute with no signup, and everything that happens after you send it available behind an account you only create when you actually want it.

Why the second half matters

Creating a document is the easy part and it is not where the pain is. Intuit’s 2026 small-business report found 59% of US small businesses carrying invoices more than 30 days overdue, up from 47% a year earlier, with an average of about $17,700 outstanding. Xero puts the average US wait at nearly 29 days. Freelancer data tells the same story from the other side: roughly three in ten invoices are paid late.

So every decision here biases toward create, send, track, chase, collect rather than toward PDF output alone. Read receipts tell you the invoice was opened. Reminder sequences do the chasing you keep putting off. A pay-now link removes the excuse of “I never got round to the transfer”. The metric we hold ourselves to is the median number of days from sent to paid.

How it is built

  • The PDF is rendered in your browser. On the free path the document never reaches a server, which makes it fast, private and free to run at any volume.
  • The marketing and template pages are static HTML. They are prerendered at build time, not assembled by JavaScript after the page loads.
  • Card data never touches our systems. Payments go through Stripe Checkout, which keeps our PCI scope at SAQ-A.
  • Anonymous sending is not allowed. An invoice emailer that anyone can use without an identity is a phishing weapon. Email requires a verified account, bank details from unverified senders are marked as unverified on the document, and every message and hosted page carries a “report this invoice” link.

What we are not building

Not double-entry accounting, payroll, inventory or expense management — those are other products, and LaloDocs is designed to sit next to them rather than replace them. Time tracking is deliberately deferred. Pay stubs are a permanent non-goal: proof-of-income documents are a fraud vector we will not put a generator behind.
