FreshBooks does not have a free plan. The entry tier, Lite, is $23 a month and caps you at five billable clients. Plus is $43 a month and raises that to 50.

That client cap is the thing people trip over. A handyman with 30 one-off customers a year is not a Lite customer by FreshBooks’ definition, even though the total billing is small.

LaloDocs does not count clients. The free plan produces unlimited invoices for unlimited clients, and the client book on a free account has no client limit either.

Competitor details checked 27 July 2026. List prices, not promotional rates.

“Not stated” means the vendor’s own pricing page did not publish that detail when we checked, so we are not asserting a number for it.

Moving your list over

Export clients and items from FreshBooks to CSV and pick the FreshBooks mapping preset. Your client list and your item catalog transfer. Invoices and time entries do not.

The mapping presets import a client list and an item catalog. They do not import historical invoices — those stay in FreshBooks.
